If you’re not keen on hiring your own car while visiting the Seychelles it’s a good idea to pre-book your airport taxi or hotel transfer before you arrive.
Taxi prices in the Seychelles can be both expensive and flexible – so it is more relaxing to arrange a fixed price transfer before you land than haggle on arrival. In general you have a choice of vehicle – from a shared transfer in a minibus or coach for which you can expect to pay £20 per adult or £10 per child for a one way transfer anywhere on Mahe or Praslin, through to a deluxe car (£68 one way for a 4 seater) or a private mini van (£85 one way, seating 6 people).
If you’d prefer to travel in more style, you can arrange for an executive transfer in a BMW 5 series for around £120, or in a BMW X5 SUV for £190. These vehicles are only available on Mahe.
It’s also possible to arrange for a transfer from the jetty or helipad to your hotel on La Digue. A standard shared transfer costs £9 for adults, £5 for children, while a private transfer will set you back £31 for a four seater vehicle.
Private Tours and Excursions
If you want to get out and about to see the islands without the hassle of driving yourself, hiring a private car with a knowledgeable guide is a great idea.
For 1-3 pax a half day tour on Mahe or Praslin is likely to cost &eur;148 or &eur;228 for a full day, with supplements for a private guide and entrance fees to some attractions. A minivan will seat 4-6 people and cost 246 eur for a half day, or 338 for a full day on Mahe or Praslin.
If you are staying on Praslin there is also the option to combine a half day on Praslin with a half day visit to La Digue – expect this to cost 320 eur for 2 people.
You can also explore La Digue in a private car – or if you are in a larger group, a truck!
